Leicester 1 Swindon 1

Wilson hails his "fantastic" players after Town secure valuable point

Coca-Cola League One

RESULT: Leicester 1 Swindon Town 1

Town scorer: Cox 38
Leicester scorer: King 85

Town manager Danny Wilson expressed his delight after his seeing his side come within five minutes of beating the league leaders.

A goal from Leicester striker Andy King (what a name!) in the 85th minute meant the points were shared after Simon Cox had put Town deservedly ahead just before half-time.

Town's leading scorer netting his 20th of the season with a superb follow-up finish after Martin in the home goal had initially parried Cox's well-struck shot.

But it was Swindon's solid defensive display that was most impressive, with Ifil and especially Greer taking charge of the back four and restricting in-form Leicester to barely a handful of chances.

Their only error proving hugely costly, however, when miscommunication between Jack Smith and Greer let Andy King in to slot past Brezovan.

Leicester's marksman making up for heading wide his side's best chance just minutes before.

"That's the best performance I've seen us put in," a smiling Wilson commented, "we were fantastic in all departments."

"Leicester are a class outfit and we came here and competed.

"In some ways I'm disappointed we didn't hang on, but I can't be too critical.

"If we keep playing like that the confidence will continue to build and we'll become a very, very difficult side to beat."

The point leaves Town just one place above the relegation zone.
